Altitude

Altitude (Youth) Service

Altitude Youth Service (for 12-18 years olds) was started in September 2010 to guide and mentor our teenagers in Tung Chung into becoming young adults in both the church and the world. It is a service designed to be “for youth…by youth” – we encourage young peteriopeople to start stepping out and taking on leadership roles in the church. The service is overseen by Peter and Rio Mercado who provides the teaching and spiritual authority for this ministry.

It is a different kind of service – floor cushions, our own band, games, pizza and more games, are all mixed in with discussions on topics relevant to the challenges our youth face today. These are frankly discussed, and God’s wisdom provided through a team of young professionals as co-leaders.

Recent topics have included Relationships, Choices, End Days, Finding the Truth, and The Power of the Tongue – we talk – straight, hard, direct – on what the issues are and what does the Bible say about them, blended with our leaders experience and, most importantly what our young people think and determine is right or wrong for them.

Our leaders (drawn from the ranks of flight crew and bank officers) are young, fun-loving, lively, non-judgmental, and passionate to see our teenagers move forward to making their own wise choices for their lives, based on God’s wisdom. Glamorous, handsome, witty (they asked us to say all this) and highly approachable – they don’t bite (well, not hard anyway!).

Talented at (or just enjoy) playing an instrument, or singing? Come and join in with our in-house Altitude band – playing leading Christian music from Hillsong, The Vine Band, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, etc.  Talk to Athena for the latest news on dates for jamming sessions and practices.
